The day the ad above ran in a major midwestern university newspaper, the professors whose names appeared wore these buttons, which generated very positive conversation.

How can a Christian professor appropriately proclaim his or her faith in the university? One proven strategy is the use of evangelistic ads.

Some vital components to an evangelistic ad strategy:

  • appealing but simple graphics and messages
  • based on current hot topics, Holidays and other recognizable themes
  • faculty members undersign cleverly conceived advertisements in campus newspapers
  • copies of ad with professor's name highlighted hung on office door a proven way to generate spiritual conversations
  • evangelistic articles, cards with Virtual Faculty Office address, Conversations CD or other handouts can further communicate faith, a Christian worldview

A subtle, but very public way to express agreement with a Christian worldview and the gospel, opening doors to dialogue with students and colleagues.

The Ad

an article from The Real Issue, explains, "Faculty use a variety of topics for ads. At the University of Georgia, faculty produced an ad celebrating the life of a Christian colleague who had recently passed away."
